For too long clubs were ignoring the fact that you need good people and new people to help out, manage and hopefully get a taste for racing. It’s the social side and relaxed friendly atmosphere that stands Brisbane Coast Thundercat’s out from the rest.

Motion 1: The following is a memo sent by John Kerrisk:

“The present system we have for motor sealing and measuring has provided a quick fix for our

sport to get motor sealing back on track.

Even before the approval of a Brisbane Club, there has been a push for a Brisbane based

measurer which would make racing and compliance easier and more economical, both with

time and money.

With much research we have found two suitable candidates:

Russell Keen

• A Grade mechanic for 40 years.

• Involved in ski racing for last 25 years.

• Chief scrutineer Qld Ski Racing Southern Zone 2000 – 2006.

• Raced thundercats in very first season before “Dark and Stormy”.

• Experienced in standard and modified outboards rebuilding and measuring.

• Would like to introduce a template set for measuring, eg. head thickness and deck heights

so all measurers have standard equipment, then there is no chance of measuring

differences.

Jon Miller

• Head mechanic and workshop manager for Neptune Marine.

• A Grade mechanic for 12 years.

• Yamaha and Tohatsu trained.

As we are aware Jon is employed by Neptune Marine, which is a similar situation to the

existing arrangement with Peter at Midcoast Marine where he can strip and seal a motor as

part of a sale, we find this a distinct disadvantage. With discussions of price rises for these

services there is certainly a place for another in-house motor sealer especially when taking

into account time and costs to take motors to the Gold Coast.

We submit this as an Agenda Item at the next TRCA meeting.

This Motion is approved for Jon Miller on the following basis::

1. Mechanic must attend and assist sealing a motor in the presence of Peter Hallett in the interest of keeping all measurers synchronized with each others measuring procedures.

2. No measurer can seal a motor which is used by staff, family or sponsored boats of themeasurer. This should forfeit any doubt in club members minds around engine sealing.

3. The measurer adopts all procedures, price structures and rulings put forward by the TRCA

4. The measurer (like all measurers) can be checked by another measurer (at the protestants cost) and if found to be sealing motors outside that of acceptable tolerances, will be subject to TRCA disciplinary actions.

Motion 2: Standardized Price structure for engine sealing as put forward by Peter Hallett and

Paul Degan.

Cost of engine Sealing across the board (as suggested by Paul Degan / Peter Hallet)

1. $125.00 for measurement + seals (gasket kit not included). You bring the motor in parts and re-assemble your self in front of mechanic.

2. $225.00 for measurement + seals (gasket kit not included). You bring the motor in parts and mechanic re-assembles ready to run.

3. $325.00 for measurement + seals (gasket kit not included). You bring assembled motor andmechanic does all work (motor race ready)

All other work to be quoted as needed-(welding crank / reinforcing / mounts / compression

tubes) Add GST if not paying cash.

These prices are be posted on all branch websites and allows for a uniform price structure

across the board.

Further to this, the TRCA holds a central database of motors details, a portion of the sealing fee ($25) should be forwarded to the TRCA for administration costs.

This would be in addition to the above sealing fees. RSO’s are to collect and make payment to

the TRCA for this.
